A man attempting to jump to death was rescued by regimental police in Ningbo City, east China's Zhejiang Province on Friday.
중국 동부 저장(浙江)성 닝보(寧波)시에서 15일 투신자살을 하려던 한 남성을 경찰이 구출했다.
The man, young and completely agitated, was found striding on two tiny platforms outside a residential building; his bosom was scratched.
심하게 불안해 보이는 이 젊은 남성은 주거용 건물 외벽의 창문 위에 달린 빗물 방지용 콘크리트 구조물(창문 비막이) 2곳을 디디고 서 있는 채로 발견됐다. 가슴에는 긁힌 상처가 있었다.
The regimental police and fire fighters rushed to the site after receiving the news.
경찰과 소방대원들이 이 소식을 접한 뒤 현장에 달려갔다.
Through preliminary investigation, they learned that the man was so troubled by family conflicts that he wanted to kill himself.
초기 수사 결과 구조대원들은 이 남성이 가족 내 갈등으로 인해 무척 힘들어 자살하고 싶어 한다는 것을 알게 됐다.
The man was alert and the rescuers had to give up operations several times as he threatened to jump in any minute.
잔뜩 경계하고 있는 이 남성이 언제든지 뛰어내리겠다고 위협하는 바람에 구조대원들은 구조 작업을 여러 번 중단해야 했다.
To break the deadlock, one rescuer tried to divert his attention by talking with him through a loudspeaker while others seized the chance to climb to the roof.
교착 상태에서 벗어나기 위해 다른 구조대원들이 건물 옥상으로 올라갈 기회를 잡는 동안 한 구조대원이 확성기를 통해 이 남성과 대화를 하면서 그의 관심을 다른 데로 돌리려는 시도를 했다.
One of them quietly descended from the roof to the guard rail on a window and moved cautiously towards the man.
한 구조대원이 조용히 옥상에서 창문 위에 설치된 ‘비막이’까지 내려왔다. 그리고 조심히 이 남성이 있는 쪽으로 다가갔다.
Standing close to the high tension wire, the rescuer's own life was also at risk.
고압선이 가까이에 있어 구조대원의 목숨도 위태로웠다.
Then the rescuer quickly jumped to the side of the man and conquered him.
구조대원은 줄을 타고 재빨리 이 남성의 옆으로 뛰어내려 그를 붙잡았다.
"The man was very agitated and always threatened me by jumping. My repeated persuasions failed, so I withdrew," said Cai Shijun of Ningbo Public Security Bureau.

“그는 매우 불안해하고 있었고 계속해서 뛰어내린다고 협박했다. 거듭된 설득이 실패로 돌아가고 결국 설득하기를 포기했다.”
"I feel this is the responsibility of the regimental police. This is only one of the cases we have dealt with. As regimental police, we are supposed to handle such cases," said Fan Haiyong, a regimental police officer.
