North Korean state media reported on Saturday (August 4) that the death toll from flooding between late June and the end of last month had increased to 169. 북한 관영 조선중앙통신은 4일 6월 말부터 지난달 말까지 계속된 폭우로 인한 사망자가 169명으로 증가했다고 보도했다. The state-run KCNA news agency said the number of missing had risen to some 400, while 212,200 had been left homeless. They added that the recent torrential rain and a typhoon in the country have also destroyed some 46,000 hectares of crops. 통신은 실종자가 약 400 명, 이재민이 21만 2200명에 이른다고 전했다. 통신은 또 북한을 덮친 폭풍과 폭우로 약 4만 6000헥타르에서 재배하던 농작물이 피해를 봤다고 보도했다. A video provided to Reuters by KCNA, which was filmed in late July, showed flooded streets, buildings and houses in Anju City in Southern Phyongan Province. KCNA reported on Saturday the floods had washed away 65,280 hectares of farmland.
