Mass gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang" will be staged Wednesday in May Day Stadium in Pyongyang, capital of Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). 대규모 집단체조 예술공연 ‘아리랑’이 북한 평양의 5·1경기장에서 1일 막을 올렸다. The performance with over 100,000 performers will be put on four times a week with each one lasting 90 minutes. The show will last to September 9, DPRK's national day. 총 10만 여명이 동원되는 이번 아리랑 공연은 주 4회 열릴 예정이다. 공연 시간은 1회 90분. 공연은 북한 정권 수립일인 9월 9일까지 열린다. As a Korean traditional folk song with a time-honored history, Arirang is considered as the most representative music of the Korean nation and has been wide spread in both DPRK and Republic of Korea (ROK). It was adopted into a gymnastic and artistic performance in 2002 to commemorate the 90 birth anniversary of Kim Il-sung and the 60 birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il. Since then it has become an important way to attract foreign visitors especially in August and September every year. ‘아리랑’은 한국의 대표적인 전통 민요로 북한과 남한에 널리 알려져 있다. 북한의 ‘아리랑’ 공연은 김일성 주석의 90회 생일이자 김정일의 60회 생일을 맞아 대규모 집단체조 및 예술공연 형태로 2002년도에 처음 열렸었다. 그때 이후로 ‘아리랑’은 특별히 매년 8월과 9월 외국인 관광객들에게 최고의 볼거리를 제공하는 중요한 공연이 됐다.
